I'm Ruth.
I have always been a non-fiction type. I fill my time watching countless documentaries and films based on true stories. Human behaviour stretches my imagination.
Having graduated with a broad background in business and consumer behaviour, I inadvertently discovered I could design forms for a living. I was hooked! In hindsight, this degree laid the foundations for me to connect business and user needs.
As a graduate, I learned how UX could fuel my innate curiosity to make content and services for people meaningful. Since then, I have spent 5 years agency side at AKQA in London and New York where I learned from wonderful creative storytellers. Just before the pandemic I moved back to London to experience working on an in-house product team, at Farfetch, the global technology platform for luxury fashion. I've learned a lot about e-commerce and enterprise systems.
In the summer of 2022 I took a "summer sabbatical" to process and reflect on my ambitions. You can read about the conclusions I came to in this piece published by The Stack World.
I'm now the Service Design Manager at Rightmove and have the pleasure of managing a cross-discipline team of user research, UX and content designers. I envision myself in an experience design leadership role in the next 5 years.
